Batwoman, in the DC Comics Bombshells universe, is Katherine "Kate" Kane, a Jewish baseball player residing in 1940s Gotham City. A star athlete for the Gotham City Gothamites, she becomes a symbol of hope and defiance during World War II.
Driven by her patriotic duty and a desire to protect her community from Nazi spies and other threats, Kate adopts the identity of Batwoman. Inspired by the urban legends surrounding Batman, but carving her own symbol, she utilizes her athleticism, combat skills, and knowledge of the city to fight crime.
Unlike some other Batwoman incarnations, the Bombshells version is outwardly confident and charismatic. Her relationship with Detective Renee Montoya adds another dimension to her character, portraying a loving and committed partnership in a time of great societal prejudice.
She is a key member of the Bombshells, a team of female heroes fighting against Axis powers and other dangers around the globe. Her dedication to justice, unwavering courage, and representation as a Jewish lesbian woman make her a powerful and important figure in this alternate DC universe.
